Technical Visit 1

A world leading ICT cluster in the North-Western Stockholm, Kista Science City

During this tour you will experience the Kista Mobile Multimedia Showcase and Ericsson Experience Center.

Kista Mobile & Multimedia Showcase is an independent showcase with more than 70 partners covering the whole value chain with solutions from ITS healthcare, content and more- all the way to consumer services. Visitors will be able to experience and test some of the latest solutions available in the mobile and multimedia arena, of which many are developed from innovations in the Kista-region. Today, these innovations are used as an integrated part of smart transport systems such as intelligent ticketing, energy-saving and resilient ways of travelling.

The Ericsson Experience Center is a place where both proven and experimental applications and services are showcased on the most recent mobile networks such as 3G and LTE.

This high-end technical tour will give you as a visitor an insight and a hands on opportunity to test and see some of the latest mobile solutions and applications available today.

Technical Visit 2

Safe and secure, Stockholm Public Transport Security Management Centre and demonstration of the pedestrian navigation concept e-Adept

The tour starts with a visit to the Security Management Centre. This is where Stockholm Public Transport (SL) manages all security resources, including security guards and volunteers. The security operators at the Centre are supported by advanced CCTV-technology. There are cameras placed throughout the public transport system and the operator can easily activate specific cameras.

From the centre, the bus takes you through a scenic part of Stockholm to the southern city centre where you will try out e-Adept, an advanced pedestrian navigation system, by foot and commuter train. The target group for this system is visually impaired. This demands accurate positioning coupled with detailed maps, including details such as crossings, seasonal outdoor restaurants, benches and other urban furnitures. The system delivers advanced guide instructions, which are built up using pattern analysis, which can be modified by the user. The demonstration will take place outdoors along a 1 km route, therefore, we recommend you wear appropriate walking shoes and clothes.

Dates and time: 22 and 24 September 2009, 13.30 – ca. 18.00
Cost per person: 25 € (20 € + VAT)
Assembly & dispersal: Stockholm International Fair
Included in the price: Transportation, coffee/tea, guide

Technical Visit 3

ITS in a growing city

During this technical visit, we will describe how and where we are building Citybanan (a major railway tunnel project) by visiting Söder Mälarstrand, where an immersed tunnel will run under the watercourse in Söderström. The visit will then continue to the Head Office, where we will be showing an exhibition of Citybanan and will describe how we are working with ITS in reality. Norra Länken, one of Sweden’s biggest road building projects, will also be involved here. Norra Länken runs between Karlberg and Värtan, and has a connection to Roslagsvägen at Stockholm University.

The construction of Citybanan will affect public transport in Stockholm, and particularly the subway. The subway traffic between Kungsträdgården and Rådhuset will be interrupted during certain periods, and information to travellers will then be extremely important. We will also interrupt the subway traffic temporarily in conjunction with blasting work in the tunnel. ITS will be an important aid for communicating with travellers. We will be visiting T-centralen, which is the biggest subway station in Stockholm, and we will see on site how the information systems perform. The information to travellers is being designed in collaboration with Stockholm Public Transport (SL).

Dates and time: 22, 23 and 24 September 2009, 13.30 – ca. 17.30
Cost per person: 25 € (20 € + VAT)
Assembly & dispersal: Stockholm International Fair
Included in the price: Transportation, coffee/tea, guide
Maximum number of participants for each tour: 40 persons

Technical Visit 4

Stockholm region TMC and congestion charges, Traffic Management Centre “Trafik Stockholm”

“Trafik Stockholm”is a joint venture between the Swedish Road Administration and City of Stockholm Centre that collects, processes and provides information about the current traffic situation in Stockholm County. This has resulted in the smooth operation of a traffic management centre for both road managers, and provides a foundation for traffic planning and traffic management in Stockholm. Powerful ITS technology and information systems are used to help in this task, together with an extensive contact network, and close cooperation with the police and emergency rescue services.

Since August 2007, a congestion tax is charged in the Stockholm inner city with the primary objectives to reduce congestion, increase accessibility, improve the environment and use the revenue from the system to be invested in the road infrastructure of the Stockholm region. During this visit, you will see the control points and there will be a presentation about the system, how it works and the effects on the Stockholm traffic.

Dates and time: 22, 23 and 24 September 2009, morning tour: 09.00 – ca. 12.00, afternoon tour: 13.30 – ca. 16.30
Cost per person: 25 € (20 € + VAT)
Assembly & dispersal: Stockholm International Fair
Included in the price: Transportation, coffee/tea, guide
Maximum number of participants for each tour: 40 persons

Technical Visit 5

Informative and convenient - traveller information in public transport, Stockholm Public Transport (SL)

This technical tour will address the different information channels used to present traveller information and how intelligent systems will enhance the possibilities for the traveller to better plan the day. Stockholm Public Transport (SL) is used daily by approximately 700 000 travellers, making 2.5 million SL-trips, using metro, commuter trains, sub-urban railways and buses. Through focusing on accurate and easy accessible traveller information using real-time data and new techniques SL attracts new customers and brings greater ease and convenience to the travellers.

The tour includes a visit to the Head Office of Stockholm Public Transport with presentations of different information channels, a visit to a Traffic Management Control Centre and finally a visit to a busy multi-traffic terminal to see the traveller information in a live situation. The journey will be undertaken in a new environmental friendly hybrid bus loaded with ITS equipment.

Dates and time: 22, 23, 24 and 25 September 2009, 09.00 – ca. 12.00
Cost per person: 25 € (20 € + VAT)
Assembly & dispersal: Stockholm International Fair

Technical Visit 6

Intelligent Park and Ride, Sickla Galleria Mall (south Stockholm)

By providing users with relevant mode choice information through a mobile phone service, drivers will be encouraged to leave the car and take the train to the city centre instead, thus reducing the pressure on the Stockholm street and road network. The Park and Ride solution is built upon combining the general attractiveness of public transport and the shopping mall into a single and consumer friendly package, which thereby increases the total attractiveness of a Park and Ride location and thus also the intermodal travel offering.

A Park and Ride location and the Sickla shopping mall will be visited showing the Park and Ride service concept. The tour also features a visit to the shopping mall.

Dates and time: 22, 23, 24 and 25 September 2009, 09.00 – ca. 12.00
Cost per person: 25 € (20 € + VAT)
Assembly & dispersal: Stockholm International Fair
Included in the price: Transportation, coffee/tea, guide
